Last week I heard from a Quizmaker’09 user who wanted to create a matching question. But the usual matching dropdown or matching drag-and-drop question types weren’t an option for her, because she needed learners to place several items into just two categories. (The matching questions in Quizmaker ’09 currently require a unique match for each item.)

So we worked out a different solution: since Quizmaker’s Slide View gives you all sorts of flexibility to rearrange stuff on your quiz slides (including answer choices), she ended up using a multiple-response question instead. How, you ask? Take a look:

Jeanette, This is a nice technique. It is much less 'clunky' than having to set up a MC question for each of several items. Still, if the learner has one of the wrong, then the entire question is wrong and it can be frustrating for learners to try to figure out which one is off. SORTING is often a good learning activity, and so far I've not been able to find an engage interaction that does this. My wish if to have a list of terms in the middle of the screen, and then the learner drags them to the L or the R column (or having 3 or 4 groups might be really useful in some situations). In my ideal world, the items "bounce back" to the orignial list if the learner attempts to drop them in the wrong category. Basically, instant feedback! Do you (or anyone out there) know of su...
