Copied last year's huge Studio project to new 2015 folder. Engage interactions still updated in 2014 location.

Feb 10, 2015

We normally use Storyline for development, but we have taken over a large (500 MB) Safety education training that was developed in Studio, so we're now trying to get up to speed quickly. Because there are only changes to maybe 1/3 of the Engage interactions, we thought we'd be wise to copy the entire 2014 folder structure for the course into a 2015 folder and work from it. Unfortunately, we immediately overwrote several 2014 files before noticing that the interactions were NOT being updated in their new 2015 location. We even tried copying the folder structure to the hard drive. As long as there's a network connection, it updates the interactions in the 2014 folder on the network.

Is there a place I need to tell the pptx or the ppta to only refer to the new 2015 folder? Any other tips we should keep in mind? Thanks!

Hi Brian,

How are you updating your interactions? If you are opening them from a Presenter file, the original file location will remain the same as when you originally inserted the interaction, which explains why it has been updating those files.

Is there a reason you don't just do things the other way around (copy the files and use those as a backup and then work directly in the 2014 folder, which you could rename 2015)?

Hi Allison,

That sounds like a good idea. The one issue is that we have several new audiences this year. We will need to have new folders for those locations. Rather than start from scratch with the interactions (a number of which may still be relevant or will only require minor tweaks), is there a way to copy all the content from one folder to a new one and re-point the interactions to the new folder?
