IE9 completion issue

Oct 05, 2012

Hello there,

I'm trying to make a SCORM content (apparently written in engage) to register results with our LMS when using IE9 and the scorm is inside an iframe. I am aware of the workaround suggested in http://www.articulate.com/support/kb_article.php?product=ap9&id=v3ouhz5wq5rm and when applying the workaround the content works. However, the article mentions that this bug is fixed with Flash Player 11, which doesn't seem to be the case with Flash version 11,4,402,278 that I'm using.

Could anyone please verify that this bug affects Flash player 11 as well (if it's a flash player issue after all)? Our LMS can't use IE8 mode at all (it's built around css3) so I would like to know what to suggest to our users.

Thanks in advance

Edit: based on https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=2928139 this isn't reported as fixed

Good Afternoon, Periklis.

Your findings seem to be spot-on.  It appears that instead of correcting the bug, Adobe simply moved the bug report over to a new reporting system without fixing the problem.  In fact, the bug currently appears to be marked as "NeverFix" since, from their perspective, "Few users will encounter."

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.  We will update our Knowledge Base Article, and any pressure you can apply to Adobe on this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi

IE 9 is still widely used out there. Let say that I have a content created in Articulate Quizmaker 09. What would be the recommended approach to avoid the problem? The suggested workaround does not apply as we can only set it on global level in our LMS. Then it will disable all HTML 5 content as well. Will an upgrade to latest version of Articulate and a republish do?

Regards,

Karl

Good Morning Karl, and welcome to Heroes!

Until Adobe fixes their bug in Flash Player 11 (unlikely since they are now up to Flash Player 14), these are the available workarounds.

This continues to be a problem in Studio '13 content for some Learning Management Systems as well, and I would recommend  contacting your LMS provider to determine if Internet Explorer 9 is officially supported.

Please let us know if you need anything else, and have a great day!
