I am working on a course in which the content takes up a lot of real estate and the client wants to have a prompt telling the user to click the next button to continue. Is there a way to put such a prompt in the Articulate interface in the Seekbar location?
This is something that I have fought over for a long time with all my clients. "It's a big flashing arrow pointing to the right. Learners are not idiots." Then I explain that the first time they looked at say YouTube or a PowerPoint slideshow, or any site that has a big arrow. Did they just sit there and wait for something to happen? No, they clicked to go on.
Maybe putting a prompt on the first and possibly second slide overlaying the content would be enough for most users. And as it's a arrow, and make note of that instead of Next.
(NOTE: If you have Captivate, you can use some of those arrow swfs in the Gallery. I personally use the pointing Hand one when I need to point out something.)
I also create a small, one frame Engage -> Guided Image piece with the first slide as the background image. I put on there arrows and rollovers that the user can open and see what the buttons do, then close and move on.
And definitely don't audio "Click next to move on."
Hi Sharon. If you have the play/pause controller enabled in your player template, the button will blink to let the user know they can advance. This is done by default on slides that are set to advance by user.
Thank you for your answers. One thing that is not being used is the Seek bar. I will suggest that in the "How to" interaction, this is explained OR use the Seek bar to display "Click Next to Advance."

Dwayne and Justin,

Thanks again!
