Are online learning modules effective?

Hello,
I have an assignment regarding online learning modules.
I was wondering if anyone is able to provide any links to evidence as to whether online learning modules are an effective form of education.
I've copied and pasted the assignment question:
Review the relevant literature and describe and comment on the educational theory it is based on, any educational frameworks it uses and how it achieves its educational objectives. For example, do its learning outcomes map to higher level learning outcomes and/or assessments?
Thanks in advance!
Clare

Hi Clare! Hopefully someone in the community will be able to chime in and assist you here. At a higher level, I like Tom's blog post on a similar topic.
Sounds like you have the material that your topic is based on though.
Hi, Clare -- Thanks for your question and best of luck with your assignment! I am not sure if the following links are exactly what you have in mind, but they may be a good jumping off point to start your research. And, you would also be welcome to ask your question over in the Building Better Courses forum, as well. :)
