Caching issues

Apr 30, 2013

When a trainee uses a computer that was previously used to view our presentation the quizes will appear finished, the slides may freeze, and the audio syncs up to an improper slide. The solution has been to clear out the cache. Is there anything that I can do when setting up the presentation that will prevent the trainee from having to take those steps?

Many thanks!

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, John!

Out of curiosity, are you enabling resume on your quizzes? If so, it may help to remove this option.

Unfortunately, if multiple users use the same machine and the same profile on the machine to view the same URL, there will probably be caching issues.

One thing that may help pretty quickly would be to set the browser to clear cache on exiting. Have the users close out of the browser when they've finished the course. Keep in mind though, that not all web browsers support this feature. If you can tell me what browser is installed on the machine, I can try to find some additional information for you :)

You could try using a different version of the web browser that's installed on the machine, or try a different web browser all together. Also, and I'm not sure if this is an option for you, you could try having the users create their own user profile on the machine. This really depends on how many  users you plan on having on the machine though, and whether or not they'd end up using it again. Obviously, this wouldn't work well for many users.

Hopefully some of these suggestions will help.

Thanks and welcome again, John!
