Chrome Browser, Studio 13 and blocked video in a new window

May 13, 2014

I want to launch video in a new browser window to get a bigger image than what is possible in the Presenter window. My flv is sized at 1280x720. I have it set to launch in zero seconds. (I do not recall having this problem in Studio09.)

But Chrome posts this error:

"The window popups feature on this slide has been disabled when viewing locally becasue your browser does not support it."

There is no blocked popup icon on the address line for me to edit for allowing popups from this location, so the video is entirely blocked.

Is there a way around this?

Thanks.

Pete

Hi Pete,

Have you tried uploading this to a server for testing? The error seems specific to viewing this locally, so I'm assuming this is either happening when previewing or when launching the project's html file from your local hard drive.

If you view a published Studio '13 or '09 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the article below for more information:

Tips for Managing Project Files

  • I suggest using SCORM Cloud for your course - it's a great place to test SCORM content.
  • Another option would be to use our Tempshare server. Just keep in mind that this server is only available for testing content - it is not officially supported by Articulate and all content will be removed automatically after 10 days.
  • You're always welcome to try out Articulate Online, as well - it's available for a free 30 day trial.

Let us know if you see any improvement.

Thanks!
