Disable User Ability to Pause/Play Video On Click

Feb 04, 2015

Hi there,

I'm attempting to create a presentation in which a video will play automatically when a user navigates to a slide, and then as soon as the video is over progress to the next slide without user input. From my looking around this seems to be trivial with Storyline's variables, but a little more of a trick with Studio '13.

I've added a blank audio track that's the exact duration of the video into the slide, so the auto progression is taken care of, but even after disabling video controls, it's possible for the user to click on the video to pause and play it, and in doing so (even by accident), some of the video will be cut off since the dummy audio track will still progress.

Placing a transparent object over the video seems like the obvious solution, however any object I place in the slide stays behind the video, despite playing with the arrangement. Am I missing something? How can I place a transparent object over the video? Or perhaps there's a better way to accomplish what I'm after?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

David

Similar problem I faced that got solved eventually:

Inserted video in the slide master, set to be played automatically with an audio inserted separately in iSpring.

Problem I faced was - after publishing that are two separate media controls, one of the inserted video & the other of ispring player - running independent of each other.

Tried to solve it by adding a rectangular shape and formatting it to 'no fill' but it didn't work at all.

Solution: After some hit & trials, I changed the shape formatting to 'solid fill' with 100% transparency & it worked like charm.

For reasons unknown to me yet, even the media controls of powerpoint didn't show up after that.

(Was using powerpoint 2016)

Hope this helps.
