Easier way to edit Menu?

Aug 10, 2014

Hi,

I'm having difficulty organizing my presentations menu items.

In the Player Menu edit, slides are listed by slide number, but in the pre-view of presentation, the slides corresponding number changes (ex. Slide 3,4,5,6 become 3, 3.1,3.2, 4, 4.1 etc.)

Is there a way to organize my powerpoint slides into manageable sections without Articulate first?

Please help asap, very desperate!

Thank you Leslie for your response.

After checking this out, I'm afraid it may make things even more confusing. This simply removes any numbering whatsoever.

My courses go through multiple rounds of peer edits, and the numbering was the only way for them to identify what number Articulate slide they are viewing (and I then have to compare the published version # and find the corresponding ppt slide number).

I have slide numbers on my slides, but they show up as (#) when published.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the updated information Sabrina.

One suggestion by our Community Guru, Tom:

The menu in Presenter is going to pull in the slide titles. If you have indented slides then they'll be identified by section and level. Thus the 1.2.1 type of numbering. You can turn off the auto numbering and the reviewer can reference the title of the slide they're viewing.

A simple solution to help reviewers and yourself:

  • Publish the course as Word and provide to reviewer to make notes. You get a storyboard with all the slides, numbers, and notes. Make that the review document. Any notes they have they can add to the document and forward to you. That's what I'd do.

If you give up the notion of having your own numbering scheme and just let Presenter numbering become the default, you may find peace.

We used to number slides ourselves but it was a constant upstream battle to deal with two numbering systems. Using Presenter's built-in numbering we are happy now and have no issues! Rearranging slides, adding slides, deleting slides--Presenter automatically takes care of the numbering.

I can also say that exporting to MS-Word for reviewers to mark up works pretty well. They add MS-Word Comments and/or make edits (MS-Word "Track Changes" turned on). It's easy for them to do and easy for me to work with.
