Exporting to You Tube

Jun 02, 2011

This might seem like an odd request, is there a good way to export your presentation so that it can be uploaded to You Tube, Vimeo, or a similar online site?

Hi Dawn and welcome to Heroes,

To upload a presentation to YouTube, you would need to record a video of your presentation using a screen capture program, such as Screenr (http://screenr.com/), and then upload the resulting movie to YouTube.

The following blog article describes how you might accomplish this goal:

Here is an example of a short presentation on YouTube:

Brian:

I have the same need as Dawn described.  Using Camtasia, I have been able to record my published Articulate presentations from the screen and upload it directly to YouTube.   Unfortunately, the end result is a smallish image and when you expand the Youtube video to a full screen, you have lost resolution and clarity.   I believe this would not be the case if there were a direct upload faciltity to YouTube.   Someone has recently suggested a stronger preference for Vimeo over YouTube, but so far there does not seem to be a connection there either.   Will such a facility appear in a future release of Presenter?  Is it possible that the screen capture program recommended above is somehow better than the same functionality in Camtasia?

Hi Ed,

In order to upload directly to Youtube or Vimeo, Articulate would need to publish the presentation to a video file like MP4 or FLV.  The current version of the software doesn't support this.  However, if you would like to see it incorporated into a future release, please submit a feature request to us by using the link below:

Also, one advantage to using Screenr is that the quality of the output is very crisp and pristine.  If you recorded the presentation in full screen mode, you might get a better result.
