Files published with Articulate Studio are huge

Apr 09, 2013

Hi,

I'm still using Articulate Studio and recently experienced a problem when publishing. I haven't found an answer to this so I am hoping you can help me with this, please.

My last 2 projects, when published into LMS, give me files of 40-70 MB, however, these are just 18 simple slides with no videos and only 1 to max. 3 photos per slide. This has never happened to me before - all my previous projects when published were approx 4 to max. 10 MB in size.

I tried everything - compressing every single element on the slides, reloading the photos, making sure "Deliver to the web" option is selected - i am still getting these huge files. I want to add that I created this template myself and it's quite simple as well.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening ? I'd greatly appreciate your help ...

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ultan!

Hmm, it's possible there may be an issue with the custom template, but just to cover all possibilities, can you confirm that you're following some troubleshooting guidelines:

1.  Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.

2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).

3.  Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

And if you're still seeing some unusual behavior in terms of size, we'd be happy to take a look at it and see if we can detect the issue. First, create an Articulate Presenter Package of your presentation as described here. Then upload the resulting zip file from your computer on the second page of this form, and we''ll attempt to diagnose what's happening when we receive your upload. Thanks!
