Images out of proportion when published

Aug 28, 2013

I'm currently working on publishing four modules, and many of the inserted images in the powerpoint are being rendered in a weird aspect ratio. (see example, attached).  More annoying is that it's happening to some, but not all, of the images.

-my screen size is 96dpi

-the broken images in question are mostly screenshots done by the person who created the original powerpoints, they aren't shapes or smart art or anything of that ilk.

-doing a 'save as picture' and then re-inserting the image in question fixes it.

Any suggestions? I'm _seriously_ hoping that I don't have to go slide by slide and do the 'save as image -> reinsert' operation, as there are hundreds of slides, many of them with multiple graphics and animations involved.

Hi Greg and welcome to Heroes!

This one example you shared looks like the image has been scaled a bit, which can always result in blurry images.

Have you tried a vector image (instead of a raster image)? Vector images are able to shrink and enlarge all you would like, as it scales. So if you're using "presentation at optimal size" or to "fill browser window" and a raster image, all those may lose quality as they get enlarged. Were you able to follow the directions within the blog post mentioned to make an image a screenshot and lock the sizing?

This article describes some image quality best practices, which you may want to review since you've already confirmed things like your DPI settings.
