Inactivating NEXT until audio is complete...

Mar 03, 2017

My client wants to force the learner to listen to the audio on each slide before moving to the next slide. I've suggested otherwise to no avail. ;-(

So I've looked at the discussions here and don't see a way to accomplish that. She doesn't want the course to proceed automatically, i.e. NEXT should be inactive until the audio is complete and then the learners can click to proceed when they are ready.

Am I missing a thread that deals with this?

So what you'll want to do is create two triggers:

Trigger 1 will say Change State of Next Button to Disabled on Timeline Start.

Trigger 2 will say Change State of Next Button to Normal when Media Completes (Object: Your Audio File).

You can look at the attached file to see what I did. Let me know if this addresses your problem.

In the Player, just Restrict the navigation.Open the player, click on Menu, then click the gear for "Additional Options." From the Navigation Restriction drop-down, select Restricted.

If you have a seekbar in place, you should also go to the player properties, click the gear for "Other" and uncheck the box for "Allow user to seek within seekebar." This will prevent the user from being able to drag the seekbar position forward, and thus skip the audio.

The users won't be able to move forward until the audio on each slide has played in full.

Thanks, Dave. I had read the description of this feature and thought it only kept the learner from using the menu to move through the course, but it also disables NEXT until the audio is complete, as the client requested. And it was quite simple....which is probably good since I'm thinking they will get some pushback on tying the learners' hands like this and I'll be changing it back soon.   ;-)
