I'm not sure what you mean about not being able to reopen the PPT presentation - after you've published it are you not able to see the published output or you're looking to reaccess the original Powerpoint? Did you save it and access that one? It's not automatically saved as a part of the Publish output. If you're seeing a particular error message are you able to share that as well?

I updated my FLASH player and am now able to embed a video.
However, the video does not appear in the published eLearning. Any suggestions?

If the videos aren't playing in the published output you'll want to take a look at the information here and run through those troubleshooting steps.
