navigation restriction for flash-heavy course

Jan 03, 2012

Hello,

I'm creating a course for a client in Articulate Presenter '09 which will consist of many screens created in Flash. This is a highly interactive compliance course and they want to ensure the user explores every element on every screen before advancing. What I'm trying to figure out is if there is a way to restrict the navigation based on what the user has/has not clicked in a Flash-based screen. For example, if there are five buttons that the user must click for the screen to be marked "complete" before they advance, is there a line of ActionScript that I can include in the Flash file that would "communicate" to Articulate: "do not allow the user to advance until all 5 buttons have been clicked." I've used a similar program before where I would simply include the following line of code on the final frame of the flash file to mark the screen as complete:

_level0.apiPageComplete();

However, I have read that I should avoid references to _root or _level0 in Articulate '09.

Any assistance is sincerely appreciated. Please let me know if I can clarify anything. Thanks again in advance!
