I am stumped. The PowerPoint slide will preview by itself and plays correctly. If you preview 3 slides that includes this one, it shows very briefly then repaints with a solid black square as the slide. The preview stops at that point.
I have rebuilt the slide and the same thing happens. The settings for the slide match all the others.
Any clues to what is happening here, and how to fix it?
Okay. I'll work on making a copy I can share. I have not been able to duplicate it anywhere else. That's why I thought it was this particular slide. I'll get back shortly.
In making a copy and pulling the content out, I seem to have gotten around the problem. It must be in the content of the slide somewhere. I am going to rebuild the slide again and see if I can avoid the problem.
I will let you know if I solve the problem this way.
I've found that previewing problems generally indicate a broken piece on the slide somewhere. Removing content, sometimes piece by piece, can help whittle it down to the culprit. Hoping your rebuild is successful!
The offending culprits were two graphics in two back to back slides. My boss showed me how to view the error message when I got the black box. It was an unhandled exception in the Articulate.Drawing.Image.Internal.dll. This gave me the clue it was a graphic element that gave it indigestion.
By redrawing the flowchart graphics with PowerPoint embedded drawing tools, the issue went away.

Can you share the file?
I am sorry, it is Intel confidential. I will check with my boss, but I don't think I am allowed to share it outside of Intel.
You don't need to share any content, make a copy of the PPT and then just get rid of the content or make it generic.
Can you duplicate the issue in a different series of slides?
