Randomising branching links

Apr 04, 2011

Hi folks

I'm using Presenter/Engage to create a bank of scenarios which allow managers to practice their discipline/grievance-handling skills. Basically the user is presented with a scenario and based on the info provided they must select their preferred action. I'm using branching (and have hidden presenter toolbars) to achieve this.

My question relates to the branching....Is it possible to randomise branching within a scenario? For example, in the scenario I'm working on at the minute, a manager must decide how to react to staff misconduct. They may choose to ignore the first instance of misbehaviour and thus await the staff's response. In this case, is it possible to randomise the next branch so that the system chooses the staff's next course of action? (By taking this approach we're hoping to add some unpredictability and challenge for the user, thereby mimicking the real world more closely.)

Thanks for your help!

Hi Pauline and welcome to Heroes,

You're going going to be able to do that type of randomized branching in PowerPoint.  However, I have seen a few customers that use Quizmaker to accomplish something similar to this.  You might try creating your scenario in Quizmaker and using the branching options there combined with randomized groups.
