Running SCORM using Android Smartphone

Nov 20, 2013

We produce SCORM courses using Articulate Presenter '09 and publish them in Inquisiq LMS. Our customers have no problem accessing them from all kinds of browsers and computers. Recently a customer tried to access it from an Android smatrphone. He saya he made sure he has up-to-date Java and Flash plug-in installed. He says he can watch other Flash presentations. When he tries to access our courses he gets an error 'Unable to acquire LMS API". Do you know what could be a problem? Or, in general, can the courses be watched from Android Smartphone or it is not an intended use?

Thanks,

Arkady

Hi Arkady,

We do not officially support Android devices. With that being said, the error message is a common one connected to the version of Java installed, so these troubleshooting steps may assist:

If you receive an "Unable to acquire LMS API" error when launching Articulate content in your LMS, this may be caused by the version of Java that you have installed.

Some LMS’s use a Java API object to load content.  Since content created in Articulate does not require Java, please do the following:
*  Contact your LMS provider and ensure that your installed version of Java is compatible with the version of the LMS you are using.
*  Ensure that you have published your content properly as described in the following article:

If this issue persists, make the following modification to your player template, and test your content again:
1)  Open your presentation in PowerPoint.

2)  Go to Articulate > Player Templates.
3)  Select the "Other" tab.
4)  Deselect (uncheck) "Launch presentation in new window".
5)  Close the Player Template manager, and save the change when prompted.
6)  Publish your presentation for LMS using the newly saved player template, and test the content in your LMS.

Hi Ashley,

Thank you for the reply. My "Launch presentation in new window" setting is unchecked. Interestingly, the customer contacted me earlier today to tell me that he is able to watch our courses from his Android phone using Firefox, but could not do it using Chrome. So, in the great scheme of things, the problem is solved.
