Hi Patrick! With the re-design of the new unified player, this was not included in Presenter '13. If you would like to submit a feature request for this you are more than welcome to do so here.
I did send a request as you so gracefully suggested!
This is an interesting feature for when we create a long training manual which requires the viewer to focus for a long-er period of time. People being creatures of habits, providing quick and easy way to identify "things", status, timeline, etc. is always perceived as a plus.
We do consider having this feature an extension, if you will, of our ability to teach the material we are presenting. Does that make any sense? If we can maintain our viewers' attention and prevent boredom or frustration with the container, then we have fulfilled our mission. There is a reason why we are republishing the material I am working with these days: it works, and Articulate Presenter has proven to be a reliable application to get things done.
Lets hope the developers will appreciate the intent.
Patrick, every hear anything back from the Articulate development team on this request? I submitted the same thing back in Feb 2014 and again a few days ago. This feature (which was in '09 as you point out) has not made it into Presenter '13, update 4 from what I can see.
Oddly enough their new Player must have the slide information or they would not be able to place it in the Outline with the slide title.
