Supported video formats for HTML5?

Feb 28, 2014

Hi,

I'm in the process of changing all our Studio 09 courses to the Studio 13 HTML5 format. I'm confused over what videos should or shouldn't work.

When I publish and play on my PC some work ok (such as WMV) but none work once uploaded to a server. This may be something with the way our IT people have set things up but before I ask them I want to be clear what is supposed to work and what definitely won't.

BTW most work in Flash.

Thanks in advance,

Tony

Hi Tony!

Articulate Presenter supports numerous video file formats. SWF, FLV, and MP4 are natively supported. Other formats will be automatically converted to MP4.

f you view published Articulate Presenter content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features to fail. To test your content and share it with others, you'll need to upload it to the environment for which it was published. Here's how.

You may also need to check out this article if you think that the server may be the issue.

Hi Leslie,

Many thanks for your reply. I've referred this to our IT people and I had hoped to come back with some new information but alas nothing yet.  I'll send them the link you provided which may help.

As I said it works ok locally on my own laptop but it doesn't from our servers (ie the environment in which it's meant to work).

Thanks again,

Tony
