video plays independently of slide

I have inserted my video into my presentation per the directions below and selected "Movie Plays Independently of Slide" and set the timing to display the video after 10seconds to allow for voice over to introduce the video, but when previewed and even published, the video does not appear in the presentation:

Hi Brandy. I am guessing that the duration of your slide is shorter than 10 seconds. The video will only appear at 10 seconds if your slide is at least 10 seconds long.
Justin, you're a genius! Thank you! Your comment lead me in a new research direction and as always the forum came through.
I used Tim Hickman's timing work around with the silent audio file: http://community.articulate.com/forums/t/8109.aspx and now my slide works perfectly.
