Videos not playing in HTML published file? Help!

Jun 17, 2014

Hi all,

I have another odd thing happening. When I publish an elearning in HTML for review for the client they say the 4 videos that are included are not playing for them. However, upon internal review from various team members on different computers the videos play just fine. Could this be a firewall issue of some sort? If so, do you have any suggestions as to how I can tell them to fix the issue? This company has pretty significant road blocks when it comes to system access.

This file needs to be delivered today so any quick help would be very much appreciated!

Hey Julie! :)

Sorry to hear about the trouble - hopefully we can find out what's causing this issue.

First, can you tell me how they're viewing the published presentation, please? Are they viewing the published output files locally, or are you uploading to a web server or LMS?

If they're viewing your published files locally, this may be the problem. If you view a published Studio '13 or '09 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the article below for more information:

Tips for Managing Project Files

  • I suggest using SCORM Cloud for your course - it's a great place to test SCORM content.
  • Another option would be to use our Tempshare server. Just keep in mind that this server is only available for testing content - it is not officially supported by Articulate and all content will be removed automatically after 10 days.
  • You're always welcome to try out Articulate Online, as well - it's available for a free 30 day trial.

If you're uploading to a web server or LMS, it may be due to their firewall restrictions, browser settings or their system may not meet the minimum requirements for viewing content:

Let us know if they're still having trouble with this after trying all of the suggestions above.

Best,

Christine
