Web course opening scaled in IE8 & 9

Apr 09, 2013

Our client has a course that is served via web rather than LMS. When launching the course from a URL on another web page in IE8 or 9, the course launches in a large window, except the course player is scaled down to about 15% of the actual window size. When they switch to compatibility mode in IE, it scales correctly. The course launches fine in Firefox. When the course is local and launched, it opens correctly in IE 8 & 9. Any suggestions?

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Tony!

It sounds like the course is set to launch in a new window from the launch page, correct? Have you tried setting the course to launch in the same window? If so, how doe the scaling behave in Internet Explorer?

It sounds like it may be an issue with IE, the launch page or the server, especially if it's working in IE locally and Firefox when the course is uploaded to the server.

Out of curiosity, have you tried viewing the course in Chrome?

Hi Christine and thank you for the warm welcome!

The client has tried both opening in a new window and the same window, both with the same results.

It does work correctly when launching in both Firefox and Chrome. In case you needed to know, the client server is LInux with Apache. Thanks again, and hopefully you can steer me in another direction.

Hi Tony!

Thanks for getting back to me! It sounds like it may simply be an issue with Internet Explorer, but it's difficult to say without looking at the course. Are you able to send the course file to us, so we can take a look and do a little testing?

If so, please create an Articulate Presenter package by following the steps in the following article:
