Adding quizmaker quiz to wordpress

Aug 10, 2015

I have an old html site that I built a few years ago with a variety of quizzes created only for fun, not scorm or anything fancy. Getting them to run was a doddle, although they are not responsive below about 770px. I never worked out how to get them to run on mobiles properly, but the site didn't get a lot of mobile visitors so I wasn't unduly concerned. I built them with qm9, (I think that's the version) which a friend of mine has or had.

I debated simply transferring the original quizzes to the new site, which wouldn't cost me a cent, but thought I'd look at studio13 and (I assumed) get properly responsive output.

I uploaded the new suite13 to give it a run and to see if it would do what I wanted for a new site I'm building, based on wordpress. I've got to be honest and say I didn't see anything in the new program that I don't remember in the old version a couple of years ago, which was a surprise. However, creating the quiz was as easy as the previous version. Then I tried to install a couple of test quizzes into wordpress. Old and new versions.

All I get if I link to the quiz.html file is '404 page not found'.

Given that Wordpress is probably the most popular platform these days, I expected to find a simple 'how to' somewhere on the articulate site. I was wrong... there's absolutely nothing. Zero search results for wordpress. The only comments I have found have been on forums which appear focussed on selling a plugin which I assume is Articulate's, called 'embed articulate into wordpress' or similar, which costs €99 for a working version. I tried the restricted free download version from the wordpress plugin directory (max upload 3 files, are you sure???) but that doesn't give a responsive output either.

I can only assume I'm missing something. I thought the new studio13 would provide me with quizzes that would be responsive, but it doesn't. Although I can upload and run new and old quizzes onto an html site easily, I cannot do so on wordpress without paying €99 for a plugin that doesn't provide a better output than manually adding a url on an html site. There is no help whatsoever on the articulate site for wordpress users, which seems bizarre.

Can anybody tell me how I add a qm quiz to a wordpress page or post? And how do I make it responsive?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi Curtis,

Thanks for reaching out here. In regards to uploading to Wordpress, I can't speak to specifics of their site - but I know a number of other users utilize it, including that plug in which you can find here and read about Brian the creator in the about me section.   If you don't want to use that, you may want to review the information here on how to embed the content on your web page.

I do see a few forum threads dealing with Wordpress, so I'm not sure what exactly you've been searching for, but I know lots of folks use it.

Our take and stance on responsive design is detailed here.

Also, here is a comparison of Studio 09 and Studio '13, so you may want to review that for the different features.
