Attempts and Shuffling in Quizmaker

Feb 01, 2016

Once I created a quiz I went to quiz properties to change the number of attempts that the learner could have if he/she failed a quiz.  I thought this would take care of the questions for the entire quiz.  However, when I went back to the slide that shows all of the questions in the quiz, except for the first question, all the questions had only one attempt.  Do I have to change the number of tries on each question or shouldn't changing that number in quiz properties change all of them?

Also, when I want to answers to my questions not to be shuffled, do I have do that per question, or is there somewhere I can do that for the entire quiz?

Thanks!

Hi, Jill -- Thanks for reaching out here!

Have you had an opportunity to take a look at this information on Choosing the Number of Attempts for Graded Questions in Quizmaker '13? You will see there is a section dedicated to Setting the Default Number of Attempts for New Graded Questions:

You can change the default number of attempts for all new graded questions to save development time. Here's how:

  1. Switch to Question List View.
  2. Go to the Home tab, and click Quiz Properties.
  3. Select the Question Defaults tab on the left side of the window.
  4. Use the Attempts permitted drop-down to select a value.
  5. Click OK.

Tip: Existing questions in your quiz won't be affected when you change the default number of attempts, so it's a good idea to set your question defaults before adding any slides to your quiz. You can override the default number of attempts for any question by changing the Attempts value for that particular question (see above).

And regarding how you can stop answers from being shuffled, please see the suggestions offered over here
