Changing colours on quizmaker

Nov 20, 2013

I'm trying to change the colour of the light blue highlight bar which is highlighting the "rubbish" answer on the screenshot above, but can't find the setting to do this. Please can someone point me in the right direction?

Also,

How do I change the colour of the grey text in the box above - I found the option to make the white text white, but can't find the option to make the grey text turn white. Also, I can't find how to make the grey ok box turn white. This is the error box when no answer is selected. I've managed to change the equivalent box when the right or wrong answer is selected, but can't find the settings for the error box.

Hi Philip and welcome to Heroes!

To change the hover color, you'll want to go into the Design tab at the top, and choose Colors and at the bottom of that drop down choose "Create new theme colors" the one you're looking to update is Control 1.

I'm assuming you changed the "Title text" on the Notification Popup within the Player colors/effects to change the second images text to white. The Grey "OK" section is dealt with as a Button in that same area of Colors/Effect. For the Grey text, you'll need to change it within the section for Editor -> Window slide text

That has helped change a few bits. Is there a similar map to show what all the options in "Create New Theme Colours" do? E.g. what does accent 1 change, accent 2 change, custom 1, 2 etc. change?

Also what's the easiest way to make the notification popup style match the correct and incorrect feedback styles? Looks like the latter are affected by the feedback template master whereas the former is affected by the quizmaker player. I have a number of courses in a different colour scheme and am looking for the easiest way to make them all consistently branded in our new colours.

Just having a problem playing mp3 files in published courses now (work fine in preview).

Hi Phil,

I don't believe there is a document yet that breaks down the accent colors, etc. although they are easier to see in the preview on the right hand side of the "Create new theme colors" screen. You're correct, that you could change the feedback styles within the feedback master - but if you set them as theme colors first, and ensure that you've applied that theme set up to your master slides - you should be able to then apply those layouts to already created slides. It's always easiest to get this set up at the beginning and then use those as you continue to work.

I think I also answered your mp4 question over here.

I have setup a new theme for the feedback master which works great in the quiz I set it up in. I've changed the fill covers, font etc. as I want them to appear.

I've saved the theme as an .athm file. I'm now trying to load this into some other quizzes in both the same and different courses so the quiz feedback all matches across all the quizzes in all my courses.

When I open the feedback master I can open the .athm file and the custom theme appears momentarily but as soon as I click anywhere in the feedback master slides, the new theme disappears and it goes back to the previous theme and the new theme isn't in the list of available themes to use.

How can I apply the custom theme to my existing quizzes?

Also, is it possible to set the size of the feedback master popup to auto adjust its size to match the text in the box? By default it seems to make the text too small to read to make it fit the box rather than scale the box and keep the text a legible size.

I am having the same problem trying to apply a feedback theme. when I left-click a theme that has been saved, the theme is not changed. If I close and re-open the feedback master, the original theme is still applied.

I have already viewed the tutorial for applying themes. The tutorial does not accurately match the options presented in the actual software. "apply to all slides" is not an option that is offered when right-clicking on a theme.

Hi Allen,

Which version of Quizmaker are you currently using? If you're using '13 and viewing an '09 tutorial, the options may be a little different.

Quizmaker '13

If you're following the steps to apply the theme to a new project and it's not working, I would recommend checking to the file locations of your project and theme files.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you're still having trouble with the template applying to slides/questions in your quiz, are you able to share the theme file here?

Thanks!

Hi,

I am using QM '13. I have already paid special attention to all of the naming conventions you listed, and am working directly from an IDE drive.

I am applying the theme to a converted QM '09 project. Even if I try to apply a built-in Articulate theme to a feedback master, the theme won't stick. No theme change will apply or persist.

Thanks for your response.

Hi Allen,

Thanks for getting back to me and for sharing the additional information :)

You mentioned this happens to a project that originated in Quizmaker '09 - does this happen with a quiz that you've created with Quizmaker '13? Just curious if this is affecting all quizzes, or only those that are pulled in from the earlier version.

Thanks!
