Changing Images in Quiz

Jul 28, 2011

Hi.

Id like to use a hotspot quiz, and then when they get the answer correct, have the image change (an addition/overley to the original image), while the "Correct Feedback" is being spoken.

Can that be done (easily) in standard AP'09?

Thanks

Bruce

Hi Bruce! You could accomplish something like that if you use blank slides for the feedback. Here's an example, although this one doesn't include audio you could easily add that to the feedback slides. Here's the source file if you'd like to deconstruct.

A couple tips for creating something like this:

  • The feedback will look most seamless if you change the transition on the feedback slides to No Transition. To do that, open the question in Quizmaker, go to Slide View > Animations and choose the No Transition option from the toolbar (it's the first transition choice).
  • You might need to fiddle a little bit with the images on the hotspot slide and the feedback slide to make them appear in exactly the same spot, and at the same size, in each slide. Unfortunately Quizmaker doesn't let you just copy/paste the hotspot image to a new slide. So here's how I did it in the attached example:
  1. Load the image on the hotspot question slide.
  2. Switch to slide view and resize/reposition the image to be where you want it, and then insert your hotspot region.
  3. Select the image and click the Format tab, and make a note of its size and position. You can get this information by clicking the corner of the Size section of the toolbar:
  4. Now set up your feedback slides. Insert the same image, and then adjust the dimensions & position to match the original hotspot image. Then add whatever additions or overlays you want.

Hope that helps!
