Changing numbering sequence in Quizmaker

Mar 13, 2012

I am having some difficulties doing something specific. I have two unit exercises, each with a series of questions.

The first is a graded quiz, with 4 true or false questions. This quiz is entitled Unit 10 - Questions 1 - 4.

The second has an instruction page, and 3 survey qustions, and I was hoping to name this quiz Unit 10 - Questions 5 - 6.

The problem I have is that in the second quiz, the questions are automatically numbered in the drop down menu once it is created. I can't find how to number the questions starting at 5 for example or something like that. I also tried to turn off the question numbering in Player Templates, but the drop down still shows

Instructions

1. .......

2. .......

3. .......

I can't seem to remove numbering or change it manually.....What if I wanted to have a), b), c) etc instead of numbers?

Thank you for your time,

S.

It's not exactly what I was looking for. I am not trying to change the info withing a question itself, but in the quizmaker template, as follows.

I want to know if it possible to change these from 1,2,3,4 to 5,6,7,8. They are auto numbered, and I can't find an option to "Start numbering from".  I need to keep the dropdown, I simply need to renumber the questions. Even when I changed the Question numbering style to "(No numbering)", the numbering was still there.

HI S,

There's no way to change the numbering to lettering within the question itself, but you could do it manually for each question using the same process Jeanette described in the above link. If you don't think that's going to work for you, I'd recommend submitting a feature request

And to remove any question numbering from the slide, you'll want to choose "No numbering" from the "Question display numbering" drop down as well as deselecting the "Display question list navigation panel".

I seem to not be explaining myself correctly. The link you gave me is to add a letter or a number sequence to a choice of answers in a question (multiple choice, for example). That is not what I am trying to do. I understand about the "No numbering" checkbox, I saw where the numbering is removed, that would be benificial.

But I DO need to retain the drop down question list navigation panel. My issue is getting the questions not to show up as question 1, 2, 3, etc in the navigation panel, as Quizmaker does automatically. I am looking for an option to change it to question 5, 6, 7, whatever I wish, based on my situation. Basically I am looking for the same thing as the box I can use when creating a blank slide, to give the blank slide a particular name, such as "Instructions" or "Scenario information".

Exactly. The Navigation Name box that is available for Blank Slides is what I am trying to find for the actual quiz itself.

When I create a Blank Slide, I can name it anything, and that is what will appear in the question list navigation panel. Yet, when I create a quiz question, that option is not available. It will auto fill 1. (beginning of question text)

                                                                                                                    2. (beginning of question text)

                                                                                                                    3. (beginning of question text)

                                                                                                                    4. (beginning of question text)

I have submitted a feature request note, but I find it strange that i get the option to name blank slides, but not the individual quizzes, it is auto filled and I have no option to customize those.
