I have created a exam bank with 9 question groups. The number questions in each group range from one question to 11 questions. Is there a way to administer a 20 question exam and have the exam pull from the exam bank? I know I can randomize the group. If a user fails the initial exam, will the second exam have different questions from the exam bank?
You'll need to set up a question draw from each group - but you can randomize the questions pulled from each bank. So for a learner to see 20 questions from 9 different banks, you could pull 2 questions from each bank, and a couple of banks pull in 3 questions. They can be randomized from within the bank itself, but not throughout the entire quiz. It'll go in the order the slides are in the course.
I understand the concept of quiz groups. Can the entire pool of questions be treated as one group i.e. a pool of 50 questions, but only 25 to be used for the exam? Thus randomizing the entire exam
I wanted to follow up with this. I have an exam/question bank of 25 questions. I took the extra questions and created a new bank. Will this automatically work once I save the quiz?
Thanks for reaching out, and I'm happy to help clarify:

Sure thing! If you have all 50 questions in Question Group 1, you can select to include just 25 questions from that group. Just go to the Include drop-down under the Home tab, and choose the amounts of questions you'd like to test.
If I split the questions into two groups, will it automatically work once I save it?
You'll have to select a question group, and then using the Include drop-down, choose the number of questions.
Choose Question Group 1, select 12 questions.
Choose Questions Group 2, select 13 questions.
I hope this helps, and let me know if you have further questions!
Following up on this topic. We want to have a 20 question exam. If a student needs to retake the exam we want to be able to pull from the 13 question bank and to randomize. I have a main question bank, #1, of 20 questions and a second bank set up as extra questions, which numbers 13. When I go to group #1 and try to include the 20 questions, it only shows 19.
Thanks for following up! Based on the screenshot I shared in my previous response, there should be an option to select All at the very beginning of the Include drop-down box.
I have the All available. I think I am missing something, and it's probably a simple checkmark somewhere. Will selecting ALL in the first bank allow the exam to be just the 20 questions?

You can find more details on working with question banks in this user guide for Quizmaker 360.

Are you not seeing that in your file?
If not, I'd be happy to take a look. You can share it publicly here, or privately with me here. I'll delete it after I'm done testing!
HI Ren,

Hi Robert,
If the first question bank is only 20 questions and you would like to include all 20 questions, then choosing yes will work as Ren mentioned.
If that's not working, we'd be happy to take a look.
