More control over 'blank slide' feedback'?

Dec 05, 2011

Have been playing with transparent QM slides (courtesy of Tom and Jeanette's typically excellent Screenrs) to create more 'look and feel' uniformity.  However, it appears that with the feedback panel affected by changes to the outer skin, you may need to consider using blank slides for feedback or discard the idea altogether.  Now, using blank slides works great in terms of allowing them to branch onto the next question slide.  But problems arise when allowing the learner to revisit the quiz because they then get the opportunity to click 'next' between slides - which means they see all your blank slides.  Not so good if you have 'correct' AND 'incorrect' blank slides.

The only way round this that I've found so far is to settle on a generic 'feedback' slide that contains the same message regardless of whether the answer was right or wrong.  Not the end of the world.  Plus it's a little less work to build.

Has anyone come up with another workaround?

Cheers

PS here's another very cool tip for adding even further 'transparency' to your QM slides.

Hey there Simon! Can you say a little more about how you're setting up your branching? If you branch the learner to a different blank slide based on their answer, and then from the blank slide to the next question in the quiz, then when they click Review Quiz at the end, they should only see the slides they saw when they completed their quiz. (So in other words, if they skipped over some of the blank feedback slides because of the way they you've set up the branching, those slides should also be skipped when they review.) Are you seeing something different? Want to post a sample?

That's a good tip regarding the transparency too... here's another approach by Dave Burton that you might like too!
