Need fill in the blank, but more flexibility
Dec 12, 2012
is it possible to have a fill in the blank question that just looks at the first 6 characters?
For example:
What's the correct system command to see a description of any xyz function?
answer: >showme build_function
since there may be multiple functions, I don't want to check that part of the answer. I just want to check the first command "showme". I realize I could rewrite the questions to be more specific, telling the user to leave off the function name, but the real questions I have are a little more complex and could benefit from a solution I'm looking for. Can I use special characters... >showme ********************
thanks

Hi there Michael. I'm sorry, but currently Quizmaker doesn't provide a way to insert wildcard characters like you have in mind. That would make a nice feature request.
In the meantime, if there are 10 or fewer possible correct answers that you can anticipate the learner entering, you could enter them all as "acceptable" when you set up your question... would that help?
I am not using Quizmaker. I'm just trying to gather learners' first and last names so we can personalize some of the interactions. I don't want them to move off the screen until they give me something. Is there a way I can test for text in text entry fields?
Hi Mary Kay! You mention that you are not using Quizmaker, so what program are you working in/publishing to?
