QM 13 - exit course in middle of quiz - what's reported to LMS

May 04, 2014

Help! In my quest to update from 09-->13 over the weekend to convince a client to make a move ... I'm running into some issues.  Thee client's courses are translated to a number of languages that were not supported in '09, and building in '09 was a complete nightmare, so I'd really love to move to 13 for their next set of courses. So, my apologies for the multitude of questions over the weekend .... but here's one more.

1. Is there a way to prevent the user from exiting the course(via the Exit tab) in the middle of a quiz?  It was preventing the exit in '09 as a result of my setting the property Allow user to leave quiz  to After user has completed quiz

2. If not, and If the user exits the course, via the Exit tab, in the middle of the final test, does their partial score get submitted to the LMS?

3. If the partial score DOES indeed go to the LMS, , if I changed the quiz player Answer Submission settings to "Submit all at once", would that avoid sending the score to the LMS until the user actually completed the quiz?

... ok, that was 3 more.

Thanks so much for any help you can give me!!

Hi Leslie,

Yes, I am asking about a quiz inserted into Presenter ... and, I guess I wasn't as clear as I could be:

I do indeed have the quiz properties set to Allow user to leave quiz to After user has completed quiz in my '13 course.

However I can be in the middle of the quiz/test, & click on the 'exit' button.  It will leave the course.  (In '09, it gave me an error if I tried this).

Now - I did run this locally - so that may be the issue.  I tried to load it into Tempshare to test, but for some reason it would not publish.

Any thoughts?
Thanks again for your help!

Hi Carol,

Viewing locally may be contributing to the issue. Also, sorry to hear about the trouble with Tempshare - it's not officially supported and may have some trouble with larger files. It's really best to test small courses, but it might be best to use a different server.

  • I suggest using SCORM Cloud for your course - it's a great place to test SCORM content.
  • You're always welcome to try out Articulate Online, as well - it's available for a free 30 day trial.

To use SCORM Cloud, you'll want to publish for LMS and zip your published output before uploading, similar to how you would upload to some LMS servers.

Let us know if you try there and still have trouble.

Thanks!
