Quizmaker 09 - "Finish" action does not work in IE 11

Aug 05, 2014

While running a quiz created in Quizmaker 09 in IE 11 I found that clicking the “Finish” button after successfully completing a quiz does not trigger the Javascript code to close the quiz. Has this issue been corrected in a recent update to Quizmaker 09?

The article referenced in your response is not relevant to my issue. The article addresses an issue with Firefox preventing the "result slide" browser window from closing when the "Finish" button is clicked.

My issue is with IE 11. After successfully completing a Quizmaker 09 quiz nothing happens when the "Finish" button on the "result slide" Iis clicked. This issue occurs only in IE 10 & 11; the "Finish" button works as expected in Firefox and Chrome.

I tracked the execution of the Quizmaker 09 Javascript code in file "\player\flashcommand.js" of Quizmaker in the Chrome and IE 11 script debugger tools to gain insight into where the failure was occurring in IE 11. In Chrome I observed that clicking the "Finish" button executes Javascript function "OpenUrl" in flashcommand.js which initiates the necessary actions to exit Quizmaker. In IE 11 I observed that clicking the "Finish" button did not trigger the execution of Javascript function "OpenUrl". Thus, the failure in IE 11 appears to be a failure in the Quizmaker 09 Javascript code execution.

On Articulate web page "http://www.articulate.com/support/quizmaker-09/issues-addressed-in-the-latest-articulate-quizmaker-09-update" the Release Notes, below, cited fixes to problems encountered in IE versions 10 and 11. Will these fixes correct the issue I have described above whereby the "Finish" action is not executed by Quizmaker 09 Javascript for the IE 11 browser?

Hi Leslie,

While this is a "work around", are there any plans to correct the issue with IE 11? I have a web based survey that I have developed and I should not have to have my users add my website to their compatibility list if they are using IE 11 before they take my assessment. Does this problem also exist in the new version of Quizmaker?

Thanks

Jerry
