Quizmaker lag

Aug 04, 2011

Hi I'm editing a series of reading test questions via Quizmaker,

and I find that every time I put a very long article( about more than 200 words) into the Multiple Choice question pattern, it always lag seriously when I'm trying to switch between form and slide view, let alone to preview it!

It lags so seriously that as if it's going to crash.

How can I deal with this issue? I've been spent many time struggling with the problem but nothing changed,

or does Quizmaker not allow so many words into one simple question?

Hi Yu-Chieh and welcome to Heroes! I would first make sure that your .QUIZ file is located on your local C: drive in a folder that does not contain any special characters and is in a directory path shorter than 256 characters.

If your quiz location seem to be OK, I would send us your quiz files so we can take a look. Instructions on how to do that are here:

Dear Mr. Wilcox:

Thank you so much!

You reminds me that I put the whole file folder in my desktop.  :(

It goes much better after I move the folder into C drive,

though sometimes it still lags a while,

especially when editing questions in slide mode.

Even when I make a minor change in slide mode editing and switch into preview,

the lagging is a little bit obvious.

All of the articles are written in English alphabets,

some of them are more than 300 words, simply copy-and-paste.

I'm glad and eager to upload a sample file,

but unfortunately the contents I'm editing are my customer's raw data...

so it is unlikely allow me to do so. :(

Hi Yu-Chieh,

If you're still experiencing lagging issues, I'd recommend running some maintenance on your machine including defragmenting the hard drive and cleaning up the temporary files.  There's a free tool called CCleaner that will help clean your machine.  The same company makes a free software program called Defraggler to defragment your hard drive.  Take a look at those & see if they help.

Thanks Mr. Batt

I tried the CC Cleaner, lagging still exists but I think it's OK,

I'll look if there's any possible solution.
