Releasing Incorrect Quiz Answers
Mar 17, 2015
I am trying to utilise single question quizzes in Presenter '13 and would like the outcome of the quiz determine whether the participant continues with the presentation or is returned to the point in the presentation where the information that they are being tested on is given. My issue is that I can get the navigation working correctly but with selection of the wrong answer when the participant returns to the quiz their previous incorrect answers are shown (and won't release/clear) for them to input new answers.

Hi Allison!
To let learners retry a quiz, you must use a graded result slide, and mark the box to "Allow user to retry quiz" on the Failure and/or Success layers. See this article for more information.
Hi Leslie,
Thanks for your advice however, it still doesn't let me achieve what I want.
Let me try to explain to see if you can help me further which I would really
appreciate.
To check understanding (and to make sure that the course participants are
actually listening to the presentation) we would like to periodically insert
a single question quiz (this is mostly a multiple choice question, or a
Matching drop and drag) with our presentation. If the participant gets the
correct answer they should continue with the next slide in the presentation.
If the participant gets the answer wrong, I would like to return them to the
point in the presentation where the answer is given and then get them to
take the quiz again.
I cannot work out how to achieve this with a results slide (which as you
have indicated is the only way to let the participants retry the quiz which
they need to do if they get the wrong answer) as there is apparently no
option for me to select branching after the failed results slide. This only
happens with the incorrect answer options. I am not sure if I have explained
my dilemma.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Allison!
I put together a super rough example to hopefully explain this a bit better :) The branching would be controlled in the properties on the quiz slide.
Hi Allison,
I am sorry but I am still not getting it. I have attached 3 slides from the presentation I am working on (including a quiz). Please could you take a look at this and point me in the right direction?
Thank you so much.
Allison
Hi Allison! It's much easier to work with your project files, but just taking a glance, it appears that you do not have the re-try options enabled as shared in the tutorial above.
If you would like to share the Articulate Package for me to take a look at, I can.

Hi Allison!
If you go to Slide 8 in your presentation (which is Quiz 1), click Edit in Quizmaker. From there, you want to Edit Results and remove the checkmark to allow retries from the Success layer:
Then, Save and Return to Presenter.
From that window, you want to edit the properties for the On failing 'Finish' button to go to whatever slide the material the user needs to review is on:
When the user returns to the results screen after reviewing material, they will need to hit re-try so that they can take the quiz again.
Hi Leslie,
Thanks for so much your help; the quiz is now working.
I have noticed that the participant can just hit the retry button without reviewing the material again. I presume there is no way around this, as without the retry button they can't clear their past wrong answers if they click finish on the incorrect results slide to take them back in the presentation?
I will modify the messages on the slides to give instructions. It all seems a bit 'messy' now with a results page as well as the message when they submit their answers. Is there any way to make it more streamline for the participants?
Glad that it's working for you now Allison.
I will defer to the community on design best practices :)
Thanks Leslie, you have been a great help.
