using branching in a hotspot quiz

Jul 23, 2012

I am having trouble with a hotspot quiz as I am trying to branch the feedback.  I would like to give feedback of "sorry, that's not quite right, try again", but when it goes back to the hotspot question, it won't change the hotspot from where I clicked on the previous try.

Any thoughts?

Hi Kimberly, I think you can get the results you want by duplicating the Hot Spot question. So, it would be:

  • Slide 1 - Hot Spot:  if correct, branches to Slide 3; if incorrect, feedback says "Try again" and branches to Slide 2
  • Slide 2 - Duplicate of Slide 1 - Hot Spot:  if correct, branches to Slide 3; if incorrect, feedback says "Sorry, wrong answer and branches to Slide 3
  • Slide 3 - Next question:  no branching

You're welcome, Kimberly. If you have the Player Template set to "Quiz-Submit One at a Time," you'll get the individual answer feedback but won't be able to change your answer (hence, the duplicate slide to give that option to retry). If you set your Player Template to "Quiz-Submit All at Once," you would be able to Review the Quiz and change your hotspot answer before Submitting the Quiz, but then you wouldn't get any feedback pop-up that says, wrong answer please try again.
