using question groups for detailed reporting

Apr 18, 2017

I would like to have a pool of 40 questions, divided evenly across 4 question groups.  I want the student to see 20 questions, pulled randomly and evenly from the 4 question groups.  I would like the 20 questions to be in completely random order.

Finally, I would like to able to provide reporting which indicates total percentage, and percent per question pool.  (granted this might be a function of the LMS).

How much of this is possible, and is there a way to see exactly what values/variables get passed via tincan?

Hi Mike,

The first part - mostly do-able!

  • You can set up 4 question banks, with 10 questions each.
  • Insert a question bank slide draw, that tells Storyline to draw 5 questions randomly (you'll insert 4 of these "draw" slides one for each question bank).
  • Then insert one results slide that is set to track all the question banks.

So the complete randomness is the only part that won't be possible with that set up.

The total percentage will be reported to the LMS, and it won't break it down by question banks. Tin Can can report out on individual answers and how the user answered. Here is a bit more detail on how to enable the Tin Can reports and statements.
