You must pass the quiz in order to continue
Jul 22, 2015
I'm in articulate and I have inserted a quiz at the end of the course. I allow the learner to re-take the quiz 2 times (a total of 3 attempts). When I fail the quiz for the third time, I receive the failure slide. "you did not pass"
When I click "Finish" I get the message "Notification, You must pass the quiz in order to continue."
My quiz properties (as shown within articulate) are
When user passes: Goes to Next slide
When User fails: Goes to another slide within the presentation.
Allow user to leave quiz = At any time
User may view slides after quiz: After passing quiz
Show in menu as: Multiple items (I have tried both Single and multiple, no difference).
Why am I getting this? How do I allow the learner to proceed to the slide indicated when they fail the quiz?
Thanks,
Diane

Hi Diane! Would you be able to share your Articulate Package or .quiz file for us to take a look?
Hi Leslie,
I have attached the quiz as requested. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi Diane!
I was totally overthinking on this one.
This line:
User may view slides after quiz: After passing quiz
Is what is preventing the user from moving past when they continue to fail. You will have to change this to After attempting quiz perhaps.
Thanks Leslie,
A second set of eyes is always a good thing. I knew it had to be something simple.
No problem Diane :) Glad it was something simple for you.

Hello.. looking for some help please. I have been trying to get this slide fixed and to no avail. I do not want the user to continue until they pass the quiz. I have tried multiple scenarios and the next button is still allowing them to go to the end. The book does not help nor have i found the accurate answers in the discussions.... please help me :-)
Hi Gail!
This thread is a bit dated.
Have you checked out the tutorial here? In your quiz properties, you can choose that the user cannot move past the quiz until the user has passed.
If needed, would you be able to share your Articulate Package for us to take a look?
Thanks for your response Leslie :-) I dont have the Articulate tab and the edit properties option is not evident. My articulate is roughly a year old is that it?
You posted in the Quizmaker forum, so I assumed you were utilizing Studio '13. Is that correct or are you utilizing Storyline?
Could you share your project file so that I can better assist?

Hi Gail!
It's fine - just explains our miscommunication.
If you've tried to share your .story file here, it didn't come through. Looks like you replied via e-mail and that will not allow your attachments to come through, but does include your signature.
You are welcome to pop in and edit that if needed.
If you can share your .story file with me here, you can do so via the 'Add Attachment' option in the bottom left of the reply window.
If you need to share privately with me, you my do so here.

Hi Gail!
Please be sure to click 'View' in the bottom of the e-mail reply to reach the actual forum page.
I do not see a support case for you and it looks like you are still replying via e-mail - which is indicated by your signature being included in all of your replies.
Again, pop in the forums, feel free to edit your previous replies to remove your signature, and then utilize the 'Add Attachment' option in the bottom left of the reply window to include your file. You should not need to zip it.
Thanks for the reply leslie! :-)
here is the file
Hi Gail,
Did you upload using the link Leslie shared or try to attach here in the forums? I don't see anything attached to your most recent replies nor do I find a case based on how your name is listed here in the E-Learning Heroes community. If you used the case form you should have seen a pop up immediately upon submission to confirm it, and then you would have gotten an email from Support@articulate.com with a confirmation.
HI Ashley.. my bad i did it on the forum a few minutes ago
Hi Gail! I got your file, but I may be more confused now. I do not see a quiz in your file? I see a result slide on 1.4, but even looking at the set up for the result slide is not looking at any question slides.
What slide do you not want the user to progress past?
Oh .. ok.. let me try and send the correct file..so very sorry about that
thank you again
Thanks Gail!
Try adding this trigger to your results slide:
Your updated file is attached.
Mucho MUcho Gracias!!!
Glad that was able to assist you Gail :)
I see this is an old thread, but I am having the same problem as the first writer -- where even after passing the quiz with 100%, a notification box pops up saying "You must pass the quiz in order to continue." I'm using Presenter 360.
It's set up:
On passing, finish closes window
On failing, finish goes to a slide #
Allow to leave quiz after completing quiz
View slides after quiz after passing quiz
Show quiz as single item
I've tried mixing things up but nothing changes it. I've attached the quiz so you can take a look. Thanks so much!
