Remove portions of audio from a video clip

Dec 07, 2017

Good day,

I am attempting to edit an existing video clip in Replay. In one portion, the audio consists of two elements; background music and a person speaking. I want to remove the spoken portion, but keep the music. Is this possible!

Thanks!

Hey Ross! Replay does have some video editing features, like trimming and deleting clips, mixing video, and adding images. It sounds like you'd also like to have a feature that would allow you separate audio clips. That's a neat idea, and one that we could certainly consider for future updates of Replay. Could you tell us more about your idea by submitting a feature request? Thanks!

Hello, I have a similar question: I am looking to separate the audio out from a video so that I can replace sections of either/or.  Is there currently a way to do this?

Also, for future: Is there a way to record video and audio simultaneously yet have them show as separate mixes in Replay (again for editing purposes)?

Thank you!

Hello Will and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

If you've added a video to your Storyline course, such as a .mp4 file, then the audio is a part of the video. Storyline is not a robust video editor with the ability to split that content.

I'd recommend using a 3rd party tool to do so and will leave those suggestions to the community.

Hi Will, I don't think you can do that in Storyline, but you can in Replay.

1. Import the video file into Replay.

2. Move the Play Head to the beginning of the section you want to mute, then click "Split" in the Edit pane.

3. Move the Play Head to the end of the section you want to mute, then click "Split" in the Edit pane. You'll now have three distinct clips on Timeline A.

4. Click on the clip you want to mute, then on the right hand side of the screen, select the Mute radio button. This does not affect the audio on the other clips.

5. Publish. All three clips will be rendered to a single video file, with no audio for the muted clip.

I hope that helps!

Dave
