Replay: Blurring video content?

Jan 17, 2024

I've had this problem before, but I can't figure out what is causing it. I need to edit a screencast video (MP4) to match up more closely to a pre-recorded voiceover (MP3). I can import both files just fine and the audio works well, but the problem is with the video file being corrupted. You can see from the attached screenshot that it's nearly impossible to see what the video looks like because of this strange blurring, pixelated effect. I know it's not the actual video because it plays just fine on its own. I've gotten around the problem before because when this happens and I publish video/audio from these types of files, the resulting MP4 is not blurred this way--that is, it plays well in whatever Media Player I'm using just fine. I could do this because I actually didn't need to see what was on the screen in order to publish--the audio and video just needed to be added together and I didn't have to edit either. However, I cannot edit this project because I can't tell what's on the screen, making me unable to match up the on-screen actions with the correct voiceover timing. I also have to cut out extraneous actions in the screencast. Has this happened to anyone? I can't figure it out... I attached the file here. The last time it happened and I reached out to Articulate, they said they weren't getting any corruption/they couldn't see what I was talking about, but that doesn't help me. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Replay, but nothing...

Hi Michelle!

Sorry to hear you've run into this issue!

I see that you've already opened a support case and connected with my teammate Lianne. Great move! It looks like Lianne is conducting some tests with your files, and should be following up with you shortly.

We can continue the conversation through your case to keep all information in one spot.
