3 videos stitched together

Nov 09, 2023

I have 3 videos that I have pieced together, one right after the other in the timeline and I would like them to play seamlessly as one video, on one slide. However, when I test, the first video ends and the next does not play the next one.

So I decided to split them up and place them on separate slides and use triggers because I know how much SL LOVES triggers, even when could be simply baked in to the program. I set them to say "When the timeline starts on this slide, Play the video" and "When the timeline ends on this slide, Jump to next slide." (except for the last slide)

I also disabled the Player triggers because I am not using slide navigation or submit  buttons. I just want a video with the closed captions and video control options.

What I get instead is the second video in the sequence waiting a good 3 to 5 minutes before it starts playing as well as the third.

I am thinking this may be easier with Camtasia. What am I doing wrong?

It's weird that having the videos appear in sequence on the timeline doesn't work. I set up a slide like that, and it didn't work for me, either. That's what I'd call "unexpected behavior."

Putting the videos on adjacent slides did work for me. I don't know why your second video takes so long to start, unless, perhaps, that's due to its size and/or network latency.

It also worked for me to put the videos on separate layers of the same slide, with triggers to show the next layer when the media completes on the current layer. That seems like a better option than having them on separate slides, since you don't have to repeat any other elements on the slide nor worry about navigation issues.

You might want to stitch your videos together in Replay (or other video-editing software), so you only have to insert 1 file.

Thanks, Judy for your response! I was able to find a solution where it plays on the same slide.

I had to use object triggers - stop media video 1 when the media video 1 completes and play media video 2 when the media completes video 1, and so on and so forth.

I had not thought of the option of using layers - will have to try that one next time!

I really don't want to use Replay; I find it's not very sophisticated for what I need as the window is too small for me to edit as detailed as I like. I really wanted to figure this one out so that I could make good use of SL's wonderful, closed caption option that I had already typed out.

Thanks again!
