Ability to resize a check box (under Buttons)?

Jul 15, 2014

I am trying to resize a check box (Insert>Buttons>check boxes). There are several sizes of check box and I picked the smallest one, but it's still too big. So with the check box selected, I then go to the check box tools and use the Size options to make it smaller. But nothing happens. There is an option for size, but I can't get it to work.

Is this a bug? Image attached.

Thanks.

Hi Amy,

I believe the smallest available size is just that - I don't think it can be any smaller with the built-in check boxes.

However, what you could do is create a custom shape and use states for the effects of a check box. Using states, you can create all of the effects of a normal check box, or go even further with the customization.

Your states can even have a "Selected" state, if you need to have learners select specific boxes for an interaction and then mark it as correct or incorrect.

Let us know if you have any trouble with this, or any questions!

Hi Amy,

Thanks for sharing the image here. The size window will actually change the overall area of the check box shape - but not the actual box itself. If you'd like to see more control over the sizing of checkboxes and radio buttons you may want to share your thoughts in the form of a feature request as those go directly to our product development team for review.

Also, if you need a bit of a smaller shape - you could always make a custom button using the shapes, and applying the check mark within the "states" of the shape.
