About to take the plunge......

Aug 28, 2013

Hi there,

I am new to this forum and product (about to buy Storyline) and I work for a Government department in NZ, we use Captivate Exclusively but are alos about to take on Storyline into the mix, however we do not know at this stage, when we will be getting Storyline, but I am buying my own copy of it.

I have seen what can be done with Storyline & like what I see, so my question I suppose is, that if I do a course ni Storyline, if the output is the same, then aside from editing the original , using the resulting output of the Storyline file, should have no problems uploading this instead of the Captivate file.....is that correct? or am I missing something?

Kind regards

Rossco

Hi Ross,

As a long-term user of Captivate and now Storyline convert, you can use them in much the same way in terms of output, but I guess it depends what you mean by the 'same'.

Storyline will output to web (HTML & SWF), LMS (SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, AICC and Tin Can) for use on a CD and output to a Word document.

Hopefully your distribution model will fit with any of these methods, I use SCORM mostly with an LMS and haven't missed any of the Captivate functionality in this regard.

Hope this helps.

Alexei.

Hi again,

thanks for the information that has answered my question, however I think I got the question wrong.....

My concerns are that if I produce some modules, then my work will not be able to edit them unless they have Storyline, which could possibly cause an isssue as the decision for Storyline purchase at work has yet to be decided....

I don't think they will be that keen if only 1 of us can edit the original file initially...

Does that make sense...?
