Accessibility of the Storyline Player

Jan 22, 2014

A group of us are testing the player in Storyline for accessibility. We are noticing that our screen reader will not read the "Menu", "Notes" tabs and will not read any of the slide titles within the menu. Is this a common issue? Can we fix this at all?

Hi Ashley,

Which screen reader are you using for your project(s)? JAWS is currently the supported screen reader for Storyline content.

Here's more information:

Storyline Section 508 Compliance

When you press the Tab key while viewing published Storyline content, you should notice a yellow box or rectangle that appears around an object on the slide. If you repeatedly press the Tab key, you'll notice that the yellow box cycles through the items on the slide and then moves through the player controls for the course.

When it gets to the Notes and Menu sections, you should be able to select it with the Enter key and read the notes. It should be enabled by default, but you can learn more here

You could also use another suggestion shared by Mike Enders in this thread, if you're wanting to have the notes play earlier in the slide.

Thanks!
