Accessing certificate only if all slides are viewed

Jul 28, 2016

Hello Community,

I am working on a module that includes a certificate that should only be accessed if learners have viewed all slides in each of the 6 sections. The certificate is working well, but I’m not sure how to approach the restricting it unless all slides have been viewed.

The client does not want to remove the next buttons or restrict navigation. And there are no menu slides, only the built-in storyline menu in the player.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks

Hi Brittney! That does sound a bit challenging as my first thought it to remove the next button until all sections were visited.

What is the clients expectation? How will the user 'know' that they need to meet a completion requirement? Would setting up variables for each section and limiting the last slide until all variables have adjusted work? You would need another slide for the user to go to or a layer to pop up if the user was hitting next prior to the 'completion' being met though.

Hopefully someone in the community will be able to pop in to assist with your design.

Thanks Christie and Leslie for reaching out.

This module is for the teachers of the state of Pennsylvania. They'll know, due to the narration at the beginning of the module, that if they complete all sections they will have the ability to gain CEUs and access a certificate of completion.

The certificate is currently on it's own slide and launches after the last submit button is clicked in the quiz.

Hi Brittney,

It's difficult to say waht set up would work best without seeing your project files, but Leslie's suggestion of a variable would track when a user has finished or reached the end of a section and adjust the next button to allow them to proceed likely. You could also just disable the next button as detailed here and activate it based on the user reaching the end of each slide's timeline.

You could also look at changing the menu navigation to only allow the user to proceed along the path you've designated by locking or restricting navigation.
