Adding 4 Different Result Pages

Jan 20, 2016

Hi all,

For a 'test yourself' module we are creating we need to build 4 different results pages. The test contains 4 theses where the students can answer 'true' or 'false'. We would like to see that when a students answers 1 thesis with 'true', he get's layer A, 2x 'true' layer B, 3x 'true' layer C, 4x 'true' layer D.

Where do I start? Since the question bank gives only one percentage as a passing score, I need some creativity. Happy to hear from you!

Kind regards,
Anneloes

Here's a possibility: Set the passing score to "0" -- that'll mean the users always end up on the "Passed" layer of the Results slide. And instead of using separate layers for the 4 different results, use separate states for the appropriate text boxes and/or other objects. Set up a variable based on the # of trues, and use that to determine what state(s) appear on the results slide.

For example, you could create a number variable that starts at 0. Use triggers on the Submit button of each question to add "1" to that variable IF the answer is True. Then, on the Results slide, show the state(s) that correspond to the number in the variable.

Hi, Anneloes -- Thanks for reaching out with your question here and welcome to the community! Please give Judy's idea some consideration, and if that will not do the trick for your purposes, you may want to go ahead and share your file here so that others in the community are able to weigh in with some additional advice or ideas. :)

If you are not familiar with how to share your file, all you need to do is click on the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left of the reply box here in the thread, and you will then be able to browse/upload from there!

Hi guys!

How awesome that you reacted this quick, thanks! I've tried adding extra states (in an object) but I can't seem to find the right trigger to make the states appear in the right order. Could you give a hint on that? To give more insight I've attached the file I'm working on.

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
Anneloes

Anneloes: I edited your file so it has the variable and triggers you need. I also added some notes to explain what I did.

I highly recommend learning about variables, because they give you so much control. The tutorials Articulate has online are a good place to start.

Best wishes for success with your project!

Thanks so much for your input and assistance, Judy, and I hope that is just what Anneloes had in mind!

And Anneloes, here is a link to our Getting Started with SL2 tutorials, and you will find sections specifically on using triggers and variables. You may also find the following general resources to help you become more familiar, as well:
