Adding a "Fill in the blank" box to a multiple choice/selection survey question and retrieving the information via LMS survey results

Nov 11, 2020

In a survey, I have a multiple choice question that has an "Other" selection/answer, that has a "fill in the blank box" next to it so that the participant can type in their custom answer.  When I get my survey results from my LMS all I can see is that they selected "Other", but NOT the information that they typed in the text box.  Is there a way to combine the two so that I can read/retrieve what they typed in the fill in the blank box that goes with the "Other" selection

Hi B,

Thanks for reaching out! There's not a way to combine built-in questions and have them report separate answers to your LMS. In this case, the slide will only report the multiple-choice question options.

You can try attaching adding a follow-up fill in the blank question slide that only appears when the Other option has been selected if you'd like to record a response.

Take a look at this file and let me know if this works for you!
