I have tried the print trigger, using a JS code and also the built-in print feature in Articulate Storyline. However, there is a bug in this feature, that it captures the current screen and print it exactly as this.
The problem is more obvious when we have a print icon with a hover state. I have recorded the screen to show the problem.

actually this is not a bug, but just an unwanted behavior in your case
here is an example how you can work around the problem
click button -> show layer -> button to normal -> after 0.25 sec start print -> hide layer
