Sure just create them and save them as png and insert them as a picture. In fact, if you want to see all the picture file types you can import, just go to the insert picture option and when the dialogue box comes up you will see the list of file types in the bottom right. I'm not sure if any of those types will let you actually type in the caption though. I think you would need to insert a text box and then group it with the picture.

In regards to including your own custom shapes as a part of the "insert" functionality you're welcome to share that in the form of a feature request.

Hi Jacinta,
PNGs are not vectors. They are pixel-based images, and thus lose quality as you increase their size, and can't be recoloured in-programme ect.
I too would love to be able to add custom Vectors (or even import ones I've made in powerpoint)
