Aligning Quzzing Items

Jan 08, 2013

Hi all,

I'm new to Storyline and I was wondering if there was a way to align quiz items horizontally. We're working on an interactive quiz and each slide has quite a bit of text. I noticed that by default, Storyline aligns all items (radio buttons, checkboxes, buttons) vertically. For shorter options, I was hoping to have them all on a horizontal line. Is there a way to do this? I attempted to shorten each item and then manually drag them to where I wanted them to be but it posed a number of challenges. 1, the alignment would get all screwed up. 2, Storyline would extend the shortened  text box anyway so it covers the other options when you publish.

Here's a sample of what I'm trying to achieve:

But then every now and then, the selection would extend to the end so you can't click Beta through Delta.

Have any of you encountered this problem? If so, what are some things I can try? I'm basically working on a bank with a ton of questions so any automated ways to do this would really help.

Nyl,

You should be able to achieve the effect you desire (see attached).  Note that there are really two entities at play here...the overall bounding box for the responses and then the bounding box for each individual response item.  In the attached file, I simply pulled the overall bounding box out towards the edges and then adjusted each of the individual items to pull the individual bounding boxes closer into the end of the text.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the response. I initially attempted that too and it worked for a number of slides. However, if anyone moves the overall bounding box, all the choices get stretched towards the right end. I've reattached the file as version 3. The only change I made was I moved the whole thing a little lower.

Is this a bug or just a side-effect that no one's really had to go through before?
